句型by V-ing
●I improve my English by reading.
I improve my English by reading English magazines.(畫底線部份是累積的新字)
I improve my English by reading English magazines and newspapers.
I have improved my English a lot by reading English magazines and newspapers.
I have improved my English a lot by reading English magazines and newspapers I buy quite often at the nearby bookstore.
:I want to keep fit by working out.
:I want to keep fit by working out every week.
I want to keep fit by working out every week at the fitness center.
I want to keep fit by working out every week at the fitness center near my office.
I can tell you if he is telling the truth by looking into his eyes.

Would you opt for an expensive luxurious car or a reasonable but practical car?
Would you opt for further study abroad or a
well-paid job? No, you can opt for only one。
for...
She opted to go (rather than stay) = 她選擇了離開(而不留下)。
out。
selection。
opt out。 We all opt in to this short message campaign = 我們都選擇要參加這次的「簡訊活動」。
The opt-in audience usually has the highest response rate.
Those opt-out schools may have not found
their devoted teachers to form their teams.
1. Britain and Ireland say they will opt out.
2. Fewer students are opting for science courses nowadays.

instead of more pay.

I talked with my boss very long yesterday.
前幾期我們談過,把名詞當動詞用,像table a discussion, schedule an
appointment,或number, total, amount, rank,
●I had a long conversation with my boss yesterday.
●Only employees can use this parking lot.
●This parking lot is for the use of employees only.
1. for the use of 供……使用的
This parking lot is for the use of employees only.
This system is for the use of authorized users only.
2. in support of 為了支持……,為了擁護……
He spoke at the meeting in support of my idea.
They decided to stay in support of the new leadership.
3. in search of 為了尋找……,為了尋求……
He went to the south in search of better prospects.
She immigrated to New Zealand in search of a quiet life.
4. for someone,s benefit/for the benefit of 為了……
It is not his fault. He did it for your benefit.
All the donations are for the benefit of the disabled children.
5. for fear of 以免,以防
Put on a coat for fear of catching a cold.
They did not mention it for fear of offending him.
6. as a result 結果是
As a result, the unemployment rate began to fall.
He judged his leaders unrestrainedly, and as a result wasn,t given an important position.
7. spoke at the meeting in favor of the plan.
If you work following the regulations, the odds are 100 to 1 in your favor.

Gordon Brown morphs into Susan Boyle on The Daily Show
Daily Show host Jon Stewart compares Gordon Brown to Britain,s Got Talent runner-up Susan Boyle.
Gordon Brown,s profile in America was given an unlikely boost when he was transformed into Susan Boyle on The Daily Show.
The Prime Minister bore a striking resemblance to the Britain,s
Got Talent runner-up in a montage made up for the popular comedy
current affairs programme showing him clad as the singer.
Wearing a brown top and a string of beige beads, he had Miss
Boyle,s hair superimposed over his own to complete the picture.
The host, Jon Stewart, feigned shock at the resemblance between the Prime Minister and his fellow Scot.
Comedians in Britain have already drawn comparisons between
Miss Boyle,s down-to-Earth look and the premier,s own unvarnished
style.
But the joke could prove to benefit Mr. Brown.
Although he was recently invited to address a joint session of
both houses of Congress on the global economic crisis, he is generally
considered to be less well known in America than his predecessor, Tony
Blair.
Miss Boyle is already a household name in the country after
shooting to fame overnight when clips of her first Britain,s Got Talent
appearance became a YouTube sensation.
She has since appeared by satellite on many of the major US chat shows.
Mr. Brown is a fan of Miss Boyle,s music and telephoned both
Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan to check on her health after hearing that
she was being treated for exhaustion following the talent contest,s
final.
